Tiramisu
Takes 60 minutes | Serves 6 |
Tiramisu, meaning "pick me up" or "cheer me up" in Italian, is a rich and creamy dessert that layers coffee-soaked ladyfingers with a whipped mixture of eggs, sugar, and mascarpone cheese, all topped with a dusting of cocoa powder. It's a no-bake dessert, making it a fantastic choice for when you want something decadent without turning on the oven.

- 300 ml
- 2 tablespoons
- 20 units savoiardi (ladyfingers)
- 4 tablespoons
Steps
- Separate the egg yolks and egg whites into two different bowls.
- Split the vanilla bean in half, scrape out the seeds, and add them to the bowl with the egg yolks. Add the sugar to the same bowl.
- Whisk the egg yolks until light and fluffy. Add the mascarpone and stir until smooth.
- In a separate, clean bowl, whip the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the mascarpone cream using a spatula.
- Mix the cooled coffee with Marsala.
- Spread a layer of mascarpone cream at the bottom of a dessert glass or a dish with high sides.
- Dip the savoiardi in the coffee and arrange them over the cream to cover the entire surface. Be quick to prevent the savoiardi from becoming too soggy.
- Continue layering savoiardi and mascarpone cream, finishing with a layer of cream on top. Generously dust with cocoa powder to finish.
- Allow the tiramisu to chill for at least 1 hour before serving to let it set slightly.
