Spanish Sangria

This traditional Spanish sangria recipe is quick and easy to make, offering a delicious refreshment perfect for sipping on a hot summer day.

- some optional citrus-flavored soda or carbonated water

Steps
- Make the simple syrup by dissolving granulated sugar in water over medium heat, then chill.
- Wash and prepare the lemons and oranges by cutting off rind pieces and juicing them.
- Combine wine, orange juice, lemon juice, and liquor (if using) in a large pitcher or pot.
- Add simple syrup to taste, cinnamon stick, and rind. Include apple and peach/apricot chunks if desired.
- Allow to sit for at least 2 hours or overnight to infuse flavors.
- Serve over ice, adding soda or carbonated water right before drinking if desired.
