A classic Norwegian cake, known for its rich layers of meringue, vanilla custard, and whipped cream, sandwiched between soft sponge cakes. Serves as an elegant dessert perfect for special occasions. From my home district, so The worlds best cake:-)

Steps
- Preheat oven to 165°C. Whisk butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolks one at a time, then milk. Mix flour, baking powder, and vanilla sugar; combine with batter. Spread on greased and parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 30 minutes until meringue is dry and golden. Cool.
- Whisk egg whites until foamy. Gradually add sugar; whisk to glossy peaks. Spread over batter; sprinkle with almonds.
- Whisk sugar and egg yolks; add cornstarch. Warm milk with vanilla, then mix into yolks. Cook until thickened. Cool.
- Whisk heavy cream to soft peaks; fold into custard. Cut cake in half; fill with custard cream. Top with other half, meringue up. Chill before serving.
