Crispy Chicken Burger with Honey Mustard Coleslaw on a toasted brioche bun, with jalapenos and crunchy lettuce. Waaay better than takeout!
Ingredients
- 3 pieces chicken breasts
- 240 ml buttermilk
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp white pepper
- 0.75 tsp garlic salt
- 180 g plain (all-purpose) flour
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 0.5 tsp celery salt
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp chilli flakes
- 0.33 piece white cabbage
- 1 medium carrot
- 4 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 1 pinch black pepper
- 1 litre oil
- 4 slices gouda cheese
- 4 pieces brioche buns
- 8 pieces crunchy lettuce
- 0.5 pieces red onion
- 1 pieces jalapenos
Steps
- Marinate chicken in buttermilk, salt, pepper, and garlic salt. Refrigerate for 1 hour to overnight.
- Preheat oven to a low heat to keep cooked chicken warm.
- Heat oil in a large pan or deep fryer until hot.
- Mix flour, salt, black pepper, garlic salt, celery salt, thyme, paprika, baking powder, and chilli flakes for the coating.
- Dredge marinated chicken in coating mixture, ensuring full coverage.
- Fry chicken in hot oil until golden brown and cooked through, then keep warm in oven.
- Julienne cabbage and carrot. Mix with mayonnaise, mustard, honey, lemon juice, and black pepper. Refrigerate until needed.
- Arrange chicken on brioche buns, add gouda cheese and melt if desired.
- Top with lettuce, red onion, spoon on coleslaw, add jalapeno slices, and cover with bun tops.
