Basmati Rice Pilaf with Dried Fruits and Almonds

A fragrant and flavorful dish that combines fluffy basmati rice with the sweet and nutty notes of dried fruits and toasted almonds.

Steps
- Place the rice in a medium bowl, covering it with water by about 5 cm. Swish gently, then drain. Repeat until water runs almost clear.
- Melt butter in a pot over medium-low. Cook the onions until softened, then add cumin, turmeric, cinnamon, and garlic until fragrant.
- Add rice, stirring for 3 minutes. Pour in water, salt, and pepper, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until liquid is absorbed, 15 to 18 minutes.
- Off the heat, sprinkle dried fruit on the rice, cover for 10 minutes. Mix in toasted almonds, fluff with a fork, and serve.
